The campaign is a demonstration of Alba’s commitment to promote a zero accident work environment across the organisation and help employees beat the heat and work safely.

Alba’s Chairman of Board of Directors, Shaikh Daij Bin Salman Bin Daij Al Khalifa inaugurated the five-day event, which ends on June 26, 2014. Also present at the event were high ranking officials from Bahrain’s leading public and private sector and Alba Board members, Executive Management and senior officials, and Alba Labour Union representatives.

Speaking on the occasion of the inauguration of the “Summer Safety Blizzard” campaign, Alba’s Chairman of Board of Directors, Shaikh Daij Bin Salman Bin Daij Al Khalifa said: “Alba values its employees the most. Increasing summer safety awareness and knowledge about precautionary measures is imperative to protect our employees. I am positive that through this campaign, we will reinforce the values that Alba believes in and further strengthen initiatives to continue making safety, health and environment a priority.”

Each day of the “Summer Safety Blizzard” campaign will be held with a different theme and will include Heat Stress, Home Safety, Conservation of Energy, Water Activities and A Health Ramadan. These topics will integrate the three Zero Accident Principles - Ownership of safety is everyone’s responsibility; working safely is a condition of employment; and all work related injuries and illnesses are preventable - into a broader framework for understanding how safety can be achieved during summer.

Commenting on the “Summer Safety Blizzard” campaign, Alba’s Chief Executive Officer, Tim Murray said: “At Alba, employees and their safety are our topmost priorities. While the hot summer months can be difficult for anyone working in a plant, we consider safety a non-negotiable component of our work. This campaign has been organised with the specific objective of increasing awareness on staying safe and healthy during the summer months, and remaining productive despite the challenges posed by the weather.”

Adding further, Chairman of Alba Labour Union, Ali Al Binali said: “All our safety achievements are due to our employees and their hard work, support and dedication. I thank all the employees for being committed towards making safety a priority at Alba.”

The “Summer Safety Blizzard” campaign will take place at the Alba Oasis Hall and include lectures, presentations, safety demonstrations, competitions, film sessions, and community outreach programmes.
